Hopefully this will be the first of many posts about our upcoming, months-long epic camping journey around the good old USA. We have just a few roughly scheduled stops: visiting family college kids on their campuses, other family members, old friends, and Coast Guard Academy classmates; seeing some new sights that we haven't had time to stop at on earlier trips; fishing trout streams on the Top 100 Trout Streams in America list; camping in some national parks we haven't been to before... (and Jack plans to write an iBook on automatic control systems and Carol plans to read about 100 books)... well, you get the idea. We call it an epic journey because there is really no exact end date and a very, very loose schedule that we'll make up as we go along.
I wanted to share the first leg of our journey using (hopefully) Delorme's Mapshare. Here's a link to our roughly planned route from our home in Surber, VA to our friend's house in Escondido, CA. If this works, we'll try to keep it updated as we progress and keep you up to date with photos.
