Making comments to our blog posts

If you want to make a comment to any of our posts, we have relaxed the requirements on who can comment to "anyone". In blogging, this is somewhat like leaving your front door open so anyone who passes by can come in. But Carol and I want you to comment, so we'll leave the door open in hopes spammers don't start making comments. The comment link is at the bottom of each blog post. To comment, just use the "Anonymous" ID in the profile pulldown list (you can sign your name in your comment if you don't want to be anonymous to us). The profile thing is just a way to identify you and help to catch spammers (spammers don't like to be identified).

Just in case we have to close the door again due to too much spam, here's a quick review of the "profile" requirements we had set on making comments to our blogs. A "profile" is just an affiliation with a group, such as google or one of the free blogging accounts. Below are links in case you want to affiliate with any of these and have an account with them. Google is the easiest and offers good free services. OpenId also looks interesting--it's a way to identify yourself and control access to your identity (email, etc.) on websites.

Google Account - It's easy to set up a Google account and they have great free email service and many freebees including the blog we are using.

Live Journal - Another blogging service

Wordpress - Probably the most used blogging service.

Typepad - Yet another blogging service. This one costs you $$.

AIM - This is a chatting service. I personally am not a chatter so I've never used one of these services.

OpenID - This looks like a good idea. I might try this out.
